Causes of Obesity

There are many causes that invite obesity. Small parts of the DNA that a son or daughter inherits from their parents and that determine ones hair color or eye color. This may also impact on bodily weight. It is proven that your genes tell your body system how to metabolize the taken food and how to use stored fats and extra calories. It is general phenomena that some person burn calories slower or faster than that of others because of their genes effect.

It is hard to evaluate that how genes affect this metabolism. But eating in front TV with snacks and cold drink do put on some extra calories. Urging the children to eat a lot so that they grow stronger and bigger may also contribute to weight gain. In most of the cases weight trouble arises from a combination of genetic factors, diet pattern and lifestyle. Certain diseases like unusual genetic disorders or thyroid gland problems are uncommon causes for the person to gain weight.

Research shows that certain emotional conditions can also fuel the obesity. People tend to eat more or less when they are upset, stressed out or sad or even bored. Being the entire time free takes mind to chew something and this habit may contribute to put on some extra pounds.

As described earlier, obesity could be genetic in nature. It may run in families. Parents or grand parents do pass this on to their progenies. Over consumption is a possible root cause. A person who eats abundantly may invite obesity. Junk food, too much cheese, ghee, eating without hunger and excess milk product may cause obesity. Major causes do include high fat foods, high calories foods and refined sugar foods.

A person with little exposure towards energy expenditure is more likely to have obesity. People are less active in the present situation spending their time with televisions, video games and computers. People nowadays prefer automobiles to go anywhere rather than the walk. Even short distances are not walked but are cut by bike or the car. In this fast present world, people don’t find time to cook healthy food and they prefer fast or packaged food which contains many preservatives and high calories items.

Steroidal drugs are very known cause for its side effect as obesity. Ayurveda believes that a person who sleeps too much even during day, one who eats too many fats like ghee, oil, sweets is more likely to have obesity.
