One should eat light and easily digestible items and should not go for heavy quantity of food like sweet etc. One can include some curd or buttermilk as it helps in digestion to some extent.
Junk food, oily food and stale food increases the chances for indigestion. Food rich in the fats and excess in starch may induce indigestion. Drinking chilled water or cold drink may also give rise to indigestion. Improper gap between two meals should be noticed and corrected. Foods containing yeast like burgers, breads and pizzas interrupt the slower down the digestion process.
Too much chocolates and snacks disturb the digestive fire that results into indigestion. During the illness, excess intake of any kind of food also invites indigestion.
Ginger, garlic and cumin seeds improve digestive fire. One can increase roughage in diet as it may regulate bowel movements. Green leafy vegetables are good for the same. One should also avoid food containing plenty of ghee or maida (refined wheat flour). Non vegetarian items do disturb the digestion one or the other way.
Ayurveda recommends white sesame to be taken as daily routine. And unless you are allergic towards curds, take some yogurt which is of fine quality.
