One should restrict protein to 50-60 gm a day. Animal fats, pork, beef, fats, dairy products and meat are to be avoided. Carbohydrates are to be restricted as they are responsible for endogenous synthesis of cholesterol and triglycerides. Avoid high calories diet, smoking and alcohol. Try to add nicotinic acid into the diet as it reduces lipids in the blood.
One has to avoid milk product, dairy product like cheese, margarine etc because of high cholesterol content. Oils are taken with extreme care as it contains the saturated fatty acids. Sweets, junk food and packaged food that contains various preservatives and hence are to be restricted. Cold drinks and carbonated water is to be given up.
One should take adequate amount of potassium and calcium to prevent arrhythmias. This may include certain fruits like apple, banana and pomegranate. One can go for rice or corn flakes which are light to digest.
Restrict salt up to 2-3 gm a day as maximum. Keep good and regular gap between your meals and getting to bed. One has to include fibrous or roughage food in diet so that you prevent constipation and so the burden on heart. Garlic and ginger are proven to reduce high risk from heart disease.
