Symptoms do include cramps in intestines. There can be mild, moderate or severe pain in abdomen. Frequently passing of stools especially watery is the major among all. There is feeling of remaining something even after defecation. There will be increased bowel sounds which can be heard even from outside called as “bombarding” sounds.
If left untreated this may bring hazardous symptoms like sunken eyes, totally dry mouth and tongue. The skin fold remains for few seconds when lifted up especially on the abdomen. In infants or neonates there is depression of A nterior fontanelle (the soft scalp on the head).
Types of diarrhea
Ayurveda describes many types of atisaara. Namely diarrhea caused by Vata Dosha, Pitta Dosha, Kapha Dosha and combination of all the three doshas. Apart from these there is description of below mentioned atisaara
- Shokaj (say – sho ka j) atisaara – this is nothing but the diarrhea caused by shock. When someone gets unexpected shocking news like death of the closest relative may produce diarrhea.
- Bhayaja (say – bha ya j) atisaara – this is caused by the fear. Fear factor is the one which can produced immediate diarrhea.
- Raktaj (say – ra k taa ja) atisaara – this is bloody diarrhea. This may be due to carcinogenic conditions, bleeding hemorrhoids or internal organ injury and many more.
