Severe asthma symptoms

- Breathing is shallow and extremely deep and harrasing
- The posture shows hunched shoulders
- Severe coughing and breathlessness
- Wheezing or sometime grunting with tightness in the chest.
- Unable to sleep and to walk.
- Difficulty in talking or concentrating the subject
- The nostril size increases while breathing called as nasal flaring
- The neck area moves inwards with breathing pattern called as retractions.
- There could be cyanosis (gray or bluish color of skin or tongue due to lack of oxygen)
- Peak flow numbers are in the danger zone. This means the person cannot count even from one to eight in a single flow of speaking.
During all the episodes, to cover up, the person breathes with higher lung volume to get enough air to the body. Opposite to that, greater the airway limitations, higher the lung effort to keep airway open. Ultimately this ends up in “air-hunger”, a person rushes to the window or to open air to breathe.
Ayurveda explains that person starts coughing. He bends because of the trouble in heart and lungs. If this remains continuous person goes into comma or semi-unconscious state. Sleeping and speaking are most difficult for him. He perspirates a lot and feels dryness in the mouth. His eyebrows are raised and he never feels good in supine position or lying down posture.
