The condition (here in stomach) in which there is more acid than the normally required. The stomach is supposed to have both, the acute and chronic disorders. The condition of irritating the stomach may result from abuse through wrongly selected of food and from wrong eating habits. Such a condition in which there is abnormal chemistry within the body like toxemia and acidosis may also disturb the functioning of the organ.
Gastric hyperacidity is the condition when the gastric juice is released in abundant quantity. High seasoned, hot and spicy food etc could be the causative factors. Sometimes this could be due to solely to any spinal lesion, either muscular or ligaments or bony.
Ayurveda approaches this as Amlapitta (say – am la pee tta). Here amla refers to super sour taste and Pitta is the Dosha (humor). This literally means an excessive secretion of super concentrated Pitta Dosha in the stomach
